Dramatic fortress overlooking the city. Many stairs to climb to reach it. Or they have a fun funicular to carry you up. The inside is a nice history museum looking at the progression of the military. Interesting history displayed although not too much to differentiate it from other fortresses in Europe. The views make up for it. There is a really great restaurant up there as well where you can feast like kings for reasonable prices.

A must visit place! There is an upscale restaurant located up in fortress. If you don't have payed for the classic music concert room, make sure you visit this place before 5 PM (except the restaurant and the concert room, they close pretty much all other places up there).

Although you'll have phenomenal views from the fortress, there isn't much to see inside, unless you just like medieval architecture...that's great. They were doing construction when we were there and there's only parts of the place that are open. Bonus tho is from the fortress you can walk to the Abby next door. That is quite beautiful.

Awe inspiring vistas. Take your time to read through the displays, as the exhibits do a better than average job infusing regional or continental affairs with the expansion and ebb of the fortress. In many ways it's a minimalist tour but you come to appreciate the frequent reveals of the old walls, foundation, and other workings. You can skip the creepy marionettes, however...

We loved exploring the fortress, it was beautiful and really well organized. We ran out of time to explore everything there and would have happily spent many hours there. The exhibitions were detailed and interesting and the combination of free roaming and audio guided tour was good.
The price was excellent value in my view, we spent €15.50 each for 2 adults for a ride up in the little fenicular railway and entry to all the exhibits. The views were spectacular. Well worth a visit.
Top tip, keep an eye out for the entrances to the sections as the are not all that obvious, and you could easily miss sections!
