My fiancé and I stumbled upon this campground during our two-week backpacking trip in Norway. We had just flown into Stavanger after a week wild camping in Lofoten and were starting to attempt to hitchhike to Kjeragbolten when it started pouring. I found Stavanger Mosvangen camping on google maps and we decided to pack it in and stay the night in Stavanger.

We had five days left before we had to get back to Oslo and we really wanted to do two more hikes, Kjeragbolton and Trolltunga. After an easy (and very affordable) check-in, we asked the owner, Per, for advice on planning the last leg of our trip. Per and his wife, Marianne were extremely helpful and informative and we wouldn't have been able to have such an amazing trip without their help!

They are super easy-going and friendly and the campground is in a nice location, next to the lake. Additionally, the tent area has lots of tree cover, the bathrooms are clean (with plenty of hot water), and there's a nice covered picnic area that has a huge power strip so you can charge your electronics. They also have a washing machine and dryer which was necessary with all the rain.

We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend Mosvangen if you're camping in or around Stavanger. Thanks again for your help and hospitality, Per and Marianne!

Affordable campsite with a relatively central location (two kilometres to the city centre of Stavanger). For 150NOK I got the following
- One place for a tent
- A large livingroom to use during cold/bad weather
- A large roofed area with picknick tables to eat
- A very outdated, yet clean sanitary building which looks like it should have been replaced a few years ago (which it will be by next year) with FREE(!) showers

Very basic campsite. Caravans/campers are parked on mud and the tent area is very wet and sloped. The highway nearby (noisy) is under construction, and for some reason construction vehicles are inside the campsite too. As other reviewers commented, this is more like a messy public park next to a highway under construction.

I was a bit cautious after reading the negative reviews, but found the campsite to be great value. It was 100 for a tent & 2 people (discounted due to construction work), with washing up facilities. The showers were super hot (a cost of 10 for five minutes via a token system, but as hot as you like it!). Fantastic value for money in Norway. I was worried about sleeping by the main road, as wanted to be away from the public footpath, but slept absolutely fine (traffic noise usually bothers me). I didn't even notice any construction noise, despite the lovely man on reception warning me we'd be woken by it at 7am. We were in a nice wooded area with picnic benches to eat on. Overall, recommended if looking for somewhere cheap to stay, with all basic camping needs. There was also indoor seating/a lounge area and laundry facilities we didn't use, plus seating outside to cook out of the rain.
