While the location is fabulous we unfortunately had a disappointing experience at this resturant. The food (seafood platter) was just ok... & expensive.I complained about the rock pop acdc music being pumped through.. The "manager" who was all of 20 defended it saying that this was a casual restaurant and that the (bogan) music was appropriate & contemporary . He was overly rude about it , I thought, spoiling what was supposed to be a very special occasion for us. The website describes Baveras as Stylish.. I'm sorry but having a lovely venue is not enough. The guy needs to learn a bit about hospitality.

My fiance and I don't get to go for dinner very often due to having a little one, and what a disapointment in going for dinner here was.
Staff are definitely not up to scratch. Very abrupt, rude and non friendly.
Food was well below average. Oysters were barely warm and eatable. My partner got the duck which was completely dry. I myself had the flat head tails. The batter was soggy and dont even get me started on the salad which was just a bit of god dam lettuce. I could not even eat the meal. ( and I am really not a fussy eater ) My partner mentioned to the waitress about the meals but didn't give two hoots. We soon left.
We will never go back again. Highly over priced food for well below average food.

I booked a reservation on the 6th of March last year (2015), for my husband and I to celebrate our 22nd Wedding Anniversary. We stayed in Geelong close by too, to make the most of it as we live close to 2 hours away.
Well we were both disappointed with the food. Ordered oysters kilpatrick to Share, they were quite large, but where not very nice infact the worst we have ever had. We both had seafood pasta, too much pasta and not enough sauce and mussels. We normally go all out when it is our Anniversary and have dessert and then coffee afterwards, but decided to leave as did not feel that good. $150. 00 spend which included a bottle of wine, which was the best thing we ordered. Such a nice place too and nice views but food quality let it down. Staff need to be better,
Very disappointed as have been wanting to go here for some time. I had to give them one star so could post this, but dont think they deserved that. Dont mind paying the money if the place, service and Food is up to scratch.

Wow, love the new menu, you guys just keep getting better. My favourite Geelong restaurant that never fails to disappoint and delivers such fresh, efficient and friendly service. We love the outlook over the water back to Geelong, the food is always fresh and delicious and you guys look after all so well. Cant imagine a better place to take my clients and always a favourite amongst our group of friends. Suggest anyone looking to have a tasty and delightful lunch or dinner out, do yourself a favour and visit a sure bet at Baveras, just don't take my seat by the window.

DO NOT EAT HERE!
Absolutely terrible service - we had settled up our bill at the table and were leaving when we were yelled at by another waitress in front of a group of tables. She'd assumed we were doing a dine and dash, and thought this was the best way to go about asking if we'd already paid. The tables around us burst out laughing and then followed that with shocked silence as my 70 year old mother explained that we'd already paid at the table. No apology was given.
I would never go back again, especially not for what was effectively an over-priced pub meal. They're lucky they have a nice location.
The waiting on tables was generally pretty sloppy and we had empty glasses for the entirety of our meals.
I can see our experience was not unique, as there are a few people on here complaining about the waitress specifically. I hope the owner reads this and fills the vacancy soon. Or hires more attentive and better staff.
