Lovely setting however the waitress was pushy and clearly focused on up selling rather than service. Suggestive selling technique poorly executed and only came across as arrogant. Conversation was interrupted on numerous occasions and service felt rigid and disorganised. Staff not properly trained in simple hospitality techniques which given the prices, was disappointing. Food was good but not excellent. Having worked in hospitality and dinned at many restaurants of higher quality, my first suggestion would be to adjust the attitude of staff. Our memories of Stillwater will not be of the food but rather how grating our waitress was, with what we can only assume, was direction from a clueless management whose focus is set on making money rather than providing excellent service. The aim of the establishment is clear but the execution is so terribly wrong.

DON'T WASTE YOU'RE TIME OR MONEY
Five of us visited for brunch on Sunday. Despite not being overly busy we were not approached or offered menus on arrival. After a twenty minute wait and much waving we attracted service staff's attention. When the coffee finally arrived we placed our food order. One hour later we still had not received any meals or indeed, any further attention from staff. Enquiring how much longer our meals would be we were informed staff had forgotten to place our order. When the meals finally arrived they proved a huge disappointment. Textures and flavours simply didn't work and dishes that were uninspiring. Providing feedback to the floor manager was a total waste of time, throughout the conversation he appeared bored and disinterested. At no point did he offer an apology, a reason for the lack of service, or the suggestion that things might improve in the future. Considering the attitude, poor food, lack of service and high prices, this is THE restaurant in Launceston to avoid at all costs.
