This should have five stars as the cooking is well worth the trip. However, what other google reviews say about the variable quality of service is unfortunately true, with at least one of the staff being both unfriendly and poor at her job. So although the cooking is much better than the majority of Nice establishments, sadly the standard of service can be surprisingly poor. A little attention from the management could correct this, and then it really would be a special place to visit.

We had dinner on a Wednesday night, just based on my gut feeling.
This is the brasserie of the restaurant beside. They share the same kitchen, but the prices are lower.
It's expensive for a brasserie, you're going to spend from 30 to 60 euro each based on what you order.
The service was definitely not bad, the waiter was Italian and he was very kind and quick. For us ordering in Italian was definitely a plus.
I found the food good, gourmet style, I was not stunned but it was not bad at all. Great dessert, their crème brulee was incredible.
Great selection of dishes and wines.

We started the evening by going to the Le Bistrot des Viviers. We have never experienced such poor service in our lives. Pathetic and insulting are words that spring to mind. We arrived and waitress asked if we had a reservation. When we said no that we didn’t have a reservation she made a big dramatic production of finding us a table despite the fact that several tables were available.
After about ten minutes without any service we hailed her over and she ensured us that it would be just another minute before she got to us. After that she attended to two other tables, greeted several people at the door and talked to the chief. The final straw came when a couple were ushered into the restaurant and served immediately.
We left right after that insult and the chief was at the door and I’m sure from my look of disgust and under the breath curse that he understood that they had screwed up.
So if you want to be treated with the respect you deserve avoid this arrogant, over rated piece of crap until they train their staff properly.

Lovely décor/atmosphere and food. Service so poor that we'll never go back:
- ordered table for 1330, the three of us stood waiting 20 minutes by a crowded door for a table to become free. We were repeatedly told "in 5 minutes"...
- ordered mashed potatoes to go with the fish for our 9 year old daughter. Reminded the waiters twice about the potatoes in the course of the meal. Never got them, only a "sorry" at the end of the meal.
- ordered coffee for my wife, had to remind the waiter of this too and eventually got it when they were starting to close the restaurant.
