die Hähnchen sind sehr zu empfehlen. gibt auch eine ansprechende wochenkarte. derzeit leider in den betriebsferien, aber die müssen sich ja auch mal erhohle ;)

Our arrival was met with a warm welcome by Markus, a very amiable and savvy young front-man for this family run gastropub. We were swiftly seated, drinks order taken after being liberally provided with a few samples of local German ale.
Our main courses, in part by recommendation from Markus, consisted of the last half-chicken infused with herbs and garlic, which was very succulent and delicious- the other main being Meatloaf in mushroom sauce with ample French fries supporting each plate. A local Red wine and sparkling water with beer made this a very sumptuous repast. A pastry type chocolate flan with ice cream rounded off the meal and at very reasonable/affordable prices for any family budget.
But our experience did not stop at this juncture - on enquiring from Markus where we might manage some brief sightseeing, he readily produced suggestions of where to go in Frankfurt and how best to get there.
Furthermore, without formality, we were introduced to his parents Ute and Klaus, the backbone of this eaterie from the kitchen where these delicious dishes were created.
A very pleasant and gregarious buzz followed culminating in various photos taken with my mobile camera of the family with us as well as a heartfelt welcome by a number of the regular locals gathered outside at various tables whom assembled to shroud us with group pictures and good will despite the language barrier.
This was a wonderful and unexpected yet memorable experience for us that went way beyond the hope and anticipation of a good meal in pleasant surroundings, which Speyereck certainly proffered- more like your local village pub. It reinforced our faith that there are good-natured sincere, friendly people out there despite divides of geography, nationality & language barriers that make you feel at home - very special! Speyereck in Offenbach is this rare gem - do not miss an opportunity while in Frankfurt to avail it. We will definitely return in the future to a home away from home eaterie with a knowledge that family type people are eager to see us again. *****
