Despite an rather uninspiring building exterior, everything inside was definitely 5 star. Rooms were large and well decorated, very attentive staff, peacful and grand interioirs, with attention to detail.

I just returned on July 27 from spending 7 nights at this Hotel. If I could give it 6 stars, I would.
The staff was very efficient and courteous. The room was clean and quiet with good housekeeping. The furniture and bed and bathroom in my room was quite nice, with view of the Castle garden.
Excellent breakfast available if desired; I enjoyed the full German breakfast 4 days and the other days I grabbed a coffee and pastry at the train station as I had early trains to catch.
The location of the Althoff Hotel is excellent. Less than 0.1 mile from the central train station, also from the main station to access the U-bahn and S-bahn. They call taxis which arrive in a few minutes. Easy walk to the Koenigstrasse for shopping, the main central Castle Plaza, and easy walk to the cultural museums and opera/theater house. Less than a 15 walk from the local restaurant/bar areas. Delightful and safe area to walk around it during the day and early evening to partake of enjoying this lovely city.
I cannot recommend this hotel too highly.

This was my first time staying in Germany. This hotel was one of the best locations in Stuttgart, really convenience and in the heart of everything. However, for the price you pay, the room does not match. The furniture is old and clunky, and the bathroom is simply not up to par with other hotels. The room did not get very cool either as the AC system was extremely weak. Lastly, the wifi was next to useless. It is very slow and you are better off using the cellular connection from your cell phone. The staff here is extremely professional and caring, however, the facilities need to be modernized very badly. And please fix the internet!

Five star hotel next to the main station, classic design, perfect reception. Bedroom clean and spacious with all expected facilities. Lounge bar is nice, though regrettably limited beer selection
