From Prosenjit Das Gupta's "10 Walks in Calcutta" (HarperCollins, 2000): Almost opposite the Haren Sil house (now converted into the Lohia Hospital) is the Mullick house, set up by Ashutosh Mullick. The premises were purchased in 1867 from Madhusudan Sanyal, who was a wealthy businessman. The building has a red-brick colour with typical sets of slender pillars. It was in one of the courtyards of the Mullick House-- also known as "Ghari Ghar" because of its watch tower-- that the famous play Nil Darpan was staged in 1872. Lofty Corinthian pillars grace the building on either side. Different sections of the family now reside in separate portions of the house.
