I always have good experiences with hertz and the team here were great, Florence hertz accidentally gave us a car with no fuel and the Lucca staff phoned them and credited the amount to fill it up. AND in our rush to get to our hotel we left our camera and some food in the car, which they put aside (even kept the food in the fridge!) and emailed us to collect. Also very close to city gates.

When I decided to write a review I noticed everybody is saying the same. THEY ARE THIEVES. On my first rental I was charged with scratches I didn't make and the second time, I did a pre-paid rental with everything included, and when I went there to return the car came the surprises.
1- They said that the taxes weren't included. So i had to check my reservation and showed it was.
2- After I showed her she said: "Then it must be because you are returning it late", and showed me a receipt with a 10:25 timestamp, I looked at my watch and it was only 10:08, they even try to pull this to overcharge me.
When I started to get angry she said she couldn't check her system and look into my reservation because her system was offline and she would give me a call.
The final result was a charge for some bulls***. Waiting on Hertz reply.

Even if you speak italian still horrible service, we picked up the car from Pisa airport and dropped it off in Lucca after a few days in the afternoon when the office was supposed to be open. We tried to call, some lady picks up the phone and she says she will be there in 30 minutes, never showed up, we needed to know if we had to refill the tank, tried to do it at the gas station but the machine refused the card. So we've been asked to give the key to the person who was washing the cars and ended up paying extra 60,00 euros on the final bill.

Hertz of Lucca is horrible. The representative we worked with was dishonest and deceitful. She spoke English. We do not speak Italian. We had prepaid our car rental with accident protection, but she said because I wanted to drive we had to "redo" our car rental contract with a different credit card. The contract was in Italian. We do not read Italian. It turns out they took the prepaid fee and the "re-done contract" was only for "additional" accident protection". This Doubled the price of our our day car rental. They are dishonest and give Italy a bad name. Corrupt and horrible. They took advantage of us. I would NOT recommend using them.
