Turaida medieval castle built in the 1214th a year after Bishop Albert's directive. Gradual expansion and the building continued to 16. century. The castle was one of the Archbishop of Riga residences.
After the collapse of the Livonian Turaida became private property and estate component. After the 1776 fire was not restored, but the courtyard was built for the owner of the manor house. Already 18./19.gadsimtā romantic ruins attributed the attention of tourists.
