Sightseeing Joensuu, Finland

There are two kinds of exhibitions in the North Karelian Museum. Local history and folk-tradition is introduced in the permanent exhibitions. The changing exhibitions are either own or assembled by the other museums. Contents range from the local themes to the international issues.

Joensuu Art Museum is situated right in the town centre near the market square. The neo-Renaissance building, a former grammar school, was built in 1894. Joensuu Art Museum was founded in 1962 as a result of significant donations to the town.

Art Centre Ahjo is located in the centre of Joensuu next to the Joensuu Art Museum in a building protected for its old cultural history.
