CA-180 nears the interchange with CA-99 which opened in August 1995 & expanded in 2003; although initial grading for this interchange was present as early as 1987. The section of CA-180 freeway west of CA-99 was completed by 2008. As of October 2011, much of CA-180 in Fresno is a freeway, with a new 4-lane expressway from Fresno to Sanger.
